Hi everyone — I'm Henry Xu. I lead the Industry Solutions R&D team here in China. My team is about twenty people — applied scientists, product managers and solutions engineers — and we build ready-to-deploy solutions for specific industries, things our SA teams and customers can put straight into production. For the last couple of years my focus has been Generative and Agentic AI — we build solutions that help customers get their agentic applications into production faster. Before AWS I spent many years at Dell, running the networking and solutions business across Greater China. Xi'an sits in the north, and this whole region runs on wheat rather than rice. So instead of a bowl of rice, the staple here is noodles, dumplings and steamed bread. Locals even joke that Shaanxi has "ten strange wonders," and several of them are about food. There's a saying that here a bowl of noodles can be as wide as a belt! Honestly, you could have a different noodle dish every day for a week and never repeat.西安在北方，整片地区以小麦为主食（不是南方的米饭），主食是面、饺子、馒头。当地有“陕西十大怪”的说法，好几怪都跟吃有关；还有“面条像裤带”的说法。一周每天吃不同的面都不重样——用来开场夸西安面食，很讨喜。
🍜 西安面食 · 话题②：biangbiang 面
The one you have to try is biang-biang noodles. They're long, wide, hand-pulled noodles — almost like flat belts. They're topped with chili and garlic, and at the end they pour sizzling hot oil over the top. But the fun part is the name: the character for "biang" is one of the most complex in the whole Chinese language — over fifty strokes — and most Chinese people can't even write it from memory. There's actually a little rhyme locals use just to remember how to write it.必吃 biangbiang 面：又长又宽的手工扯面，像裤带；配辣椒蒜末、最后泼一勺滚油（“油泼面”）。亮点是“biang”字——汉字里最复杂之一，五十多笔，多数中国人都写不出，还有专门的口诀来记。老外通常对这个字特别感兴趣，是很好的谈资。
🍜 西安面食 · 话题③：肉夹馍
Another local favorite is roujiamo — people jokingly call it the "Chinese hamburger." It's slow-braised meat, chopped up and packed into a warm, crispy flatbread. The meat is stewed for hours in a broth with dozens of spices, so it's incredibly tender and rich. Locals will proudly tell you it's actually far older than the Western burger — some trace it back over two thousand years. It's the classic street snack here — you grab one and eat it on the go.另一招牌是肉夹馍——大家戏称“中式汉堡”。腊汁肉炖数小时（几十种香料）、剁碎夹进温热酥脆的白吉馍。当地人会自豪地说它比西方汉堡早得多，有两千多年历史。是最经典的街头小吃，边走边吃。on the go = 边走边吃。
🍜 西安面食 · 话题④：回民街
If you get a free evening, the Muslim Quarter is the place to go. It's a famous old food street, packed with little stalls and the smell of grilled lamb everywhere. You'll find hand-pulled noodles, lamb skewers, persimmon cakes — all kinds of snacks in one place. And it goes back centuries: the neighborhood grew up around Xi'an's role on the Silk Road, when traders from Central Asia settled here. It's at its liveliest at night, so it's a great place to just wander and graze.若有空的晚上，回民街值得去：著名的老小吃街，摊子林立、满街烤羊肉香；有拉面、羊肉串、黄桂柿子饼等。它有几百年历史，因西安是丝路重镇、中亚商人聚居而形成。夜里最热闹，适合边逛边吃。graze = （像吃草一样）边走边尝小吃。
🏯 古都历史
Xi'an is one of China's four great ancient capitals — it was the imperial capital for thirteen dynasties.四大古都之一，先后是十三个朝代的都城/皇城。
Back then it was called Chang'an, and it was the eastern starting point of the ancient Silk Road — one of the biggest cities in the world at the time.古称长安，是丝绸之路的东方起点，当时世界最大城市之一。
It still has the best-preserved city wall in China — you can actually cycle the full loop on top of it.保存最完好的古城墙，还能在城墙上骑自行车绕一圈——很受游客欢迎的点。
🗿 兵马俑（你也没去过，正好当共同话题）
Have you had a chance to see the Terracotta Warriors yet? Funnily enough, I've never been either — maybe we're both overdue!问他去过没；坦白你也没去过（funnily enough = 说来也怪），overdue = 早该去了，轻松自嘲。
It's the tomb of China's first emperor — an entire army of life-size clay soldiers, and no two faces are the same.秦始皇陵，成千上万真人大小的陶俑，每张脸都不一样。
A farmer digging a well stumbled on them back in the '70s — one of the biggest finds of the last century.1974 年农民打井时偶然发现，20 世纪最重大的考古发现之一。stumble on = 无意中发现。

团队在做什么（举例）
My team's about twenty people, and we build industry-specific solutions across areas like manufacturing, retail, financial services and healthcare.约 20 人，做跨行业的行业专有方案。
Let me give you two examples, both from about two years ago. The first is a healthcare solution we called the Medical Insights Hub. It's essentially an AI agent that helps medical customers translate product manuals and draft specialized documents.例子一（约两年前）：面向医疗行业的 Medical Insights Hub——一个 AI agent，帮客户翻译产品手册、撰写专业文档。
The tricky part in medical is terminology — one wrong term in a drug manual is a serious problem. So we built a retrieval system on top of a specialized medical glossary, so that every technical term gets translated correctly.医疗行业专用词汇极多，翻错一个术语后果严重。所以我们基于专有医学词库做了一套检索系统，保证专业术语被正确翻译。
It took a 500-page manual from over two weeks of outsourced translation down to a matter of hours, and pushed terminology accuracy from around 80% to over 95%.效果：500 页手册从外包两周多缩短到数小时；术语准确率从约 80% 提升到 95% 以上。给他一组硬数字。
MIH 技术弹药（若他 dive deep 问“怎么做到的”）： "The real challenge was recall speed. Injecting a glossary into the prompt worked for a couple of hundred terms, but big-pharma dictionaries like WHODrug run into the millions. So we used Amazon OpenSearch percolate — a reverse-index where each glossary term is stored as a query, and the source text is matched against all of them in milliseconds. We then fed the matched terms into a structured prompt to constrain the model. That's what got us to 95%+ accuracy at million-term scale." 中文：难点是“百万级术语的实时召回”。把词库塞进 prompt 只适合几百词；像 WHODrug 这种百万级词典就不行。于是用 OpenSearch 的 percolate 反向索引——把每个术语存成一条 query，源文本作为查询体去匹配，毫秒级命中，再把命中的术语注入结构化 prompt 约束模型，于是在百万级词库上做到 95%+。
团队在做什么（例子二）
The second, also about two years ago, was a multimodal video analysis solution. We break a video down into frames so the system actually understands what's happening in it, and then you can search the footage in plain language.例子二（约两年前）：多模态视频分析。通过抽帧让系统真正理解视频内容，然后用自然语言检索画面。
It was useful in security — for example, quickly finding the clips that might show a safety risk, instead of scrubbing through hours of footage.在安防领域有用：快速定位可能有安全风险的片段，不用人工翻看几小时录像。
We've since evolved it so you can slice and search video by text or image. Some customers now use it to build their advertising creative libraries.后来迭代成可基于文字/图片对视频做切片和检索；一些客户用它来构建广告素材库。
开源项目（务必展开，别只报名字）
We've open-sourced a few as public reference implementations. One is SwiftChat — a fast, cross-platform mobile AI chat app; basically a reference design for how to build a smooth chat client on top of Amazon Bedrock.SwiftChat：跨平台（iOS/安卓/桌面）的 AI 聊天 App，示范“如何在 Bedrock 上做一个流畅的聊天客户端”的参考实现。
Another is Bedrock Access Gateway — it puts an OpenAI-compatible API in front of Bedrock. So if a team already built something against the OpenAI SDK, they can point it at Bedrock models without rewriting their code.Bedrock Access Gateway：在 Bedrock 前面套一层“兼容 OpenAI 的接口”。团队原来照 OpenAI 写的代码，几乎不用改就能切到 Bedrock 的模型。

A lot of what we build is really there to arm the SA teams and speed up customer PoCs.你们的方案是给 SA 团队“弹药”、加速客户 PoC——他会很受用。

Here's something I've been thinking a lot about lately. The solutions my team has built have been deployed by around two thousand customers worldwide over the years — that model worked really well. But GenAI is changing the game. These days a lot of people feel they've got a coding agent, so they can just build it themselves — so shipping a piece of ready-made software to SAs or customers is becoming less compelling.过去我团队的方案累计被全球约 2000 个客户部署，这套模式很成功。但 GenAI 改变了游戏规则：现在很多人觉得“我有 coding agent，自己就能做”，所以“交付一套现成软件给 SA 或客户”这条路吸引力在下降。
The thing is, that's not quite the full picture. What most people get out of AI today is a prototype or a demo — whereas the bar we hold is production-grade, something a customer can actually run in production. That gap is real.但现实更微妙：大多数人用 AI 做出来的其实是原型/demo；而我们坚持的是生产级质量、客户能真正上生产的东西——这个差距是真实存在的。
So I'm exploring whether there's a better way to enable customers. Maybe what we should be shipping isn't the software itself, but the capability to build — not a product, but a service. It's still early, but I think that could be a direction.所以我在探索更好的赋能方式：也许我们该输出的不是软件本身，而是“开发能力”——不是产品，而是服务。还很早期，但我觉得这可能是个方向。

🦆 北京烤鸭（展开讲，最出彩）
First thing I'd take you for is Peking duck — it's the one dish you have to try in Beijing.先说必吃烤鸭。
The skin is the prized part — crispy, and they roast it so the fat renders out. A master chef carves the whole duck at your table into around a hundred thin slices, each with a bit of skin and meat.最金贵的是脆皮；师傅当桌把整只鸭片成约上百片薄片，每片带皮带肉——“片鸭”这门手艺本身就是看点。render out = 把油脂烤出来。
Then you wrap it yourself in a thin pancake with spring onion, cucumber and a sweet bean sauce. The crispy skin you dip in a little sugar — sounds odd, tastes amazing.吃法：用薄饼卷鸭肉+葱丝+黄瓜+甜面酱；脆皮蘸白糖吃——听着怪，其实很惊艳。
🏰 紫禁城 & 长城
Then the Forbidden City — the imperial palace right in the heart of Beijing, home to twenty-four emperors. It's the largest palace complex in the world; you need a good half-day.紫禁城/故宫：市中心的皇宫，住过 24 位皇帝，世界最大宫殿群，得逛小半天。
And of course the Great Wall — the section near Beijing is spectacular. As the saying goes, "you're not a true hero until you've climbed the Great Wall."长城：北京段最壮观。引一句“不到长城非好汉”，老外很吃这套。
